You don’t have to be around Harvey Cox for long before you know he has a passion for helping people get their “legal lives” in order. He is on a mission to help Texas Senior Citizens plan for the unexpected and clearly state their wishes about critical life decisions before they find themselves in situations where they cannot make those decisions.
Pro Bono Community Outreach Program
As part of Harvey’s mission, he offers a pro bono (i.e., free) community outreach program through which he provides a no-cost, no-obligation review of any Texas Senior Citizen’s Will, Trust, or other estate planning documents.
Education & Practice
Harvey has two Bachelor’s Degrees, one from Dallas Bible College in 1983 and the other from Criswell College in 1987. Between those two degrees, he did work on a Master’s of Theology (Th.M.) at Dallas Theological Seminary. Harvey left Dallas Seminary in 1987 to pursue a career in law, graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. (Yes, there is a story there, but it’s way too long for this space. Feel free to ask Harvey about it when you’re in the office.)
Over the span of his career, Harvey has practiced in the areas of Commercial and Consumer Collections, Consumer Protection, IRS Problem Solving, Child Advocacy, Asset Protection Planning, and Estate Planning. Since 2007, he has focused exclusively on Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, and Medicaid Planning.
Teaching & Writing
When Harvey isn’t busy helping clients, he teaches Business Law, Employment Law, International Business Law, and Hospitality Law at Tarleton State University and McLennan Community College. He also teaches a McLennan Community College Continuing Education class for Seniors entitled Estate Planning and Asset Protection Planning for Seniors.
Harvey is also the author of several books, including:
- How to Collect Your Own Judgment in Texas
